One of SupplySide West’s most popular workshops is back for another year, bringing attendees the most cutting-edge research on probiotics. In the Probiotics Workshop: From Intestinal Microbiota to Business Success, three expert speakers will provide crucial scientific, regulatory and marketing advice to help industry go to market successfully and legally. Held on Friday, Oct. 10 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., the workshop is underwritten by Chr. Hansen, DuPont, Kyolic, Lallemand, Morinaga and Nutraceutix.

Sonia Michail, University of Southern California physician, will break down the best deliveries for probiotics in her session, “Intestinal Microbiota Basics and the Effects on the Health of the Host.” Michail will analyze key factors during the product development process, such as taste, dose load, consumer acceptance and cost.

Armed with a solid, scientific formulation, manufacturers must now traverse the road to market. Freddie Ann Hoffman, M.D., HeteroGeneity CEO, will explore U.S. regulation and marketing considerations (think: market category differences, return on investment, and controls and claims substantiation).

John Endres, N.D., can help attendees jump regulatory hurdles in his session “Probiotics for Functional Food and Dietary Supplements.” AIBMR Life Sciences’ chief scientific officer will discuss the science and safety necessary to meet structure-function claims and FTC’s “truthful and not misleading” requirement.

The Probiotics Workshop is just one of countless business opportunities at SupplySide West, held at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas from Oct. 6 to 10. Explore and register for other educational Summits and Workshops at SupplySideShow.com.
