LONG BEACH, Calif.—A new wastewater statement from Los Angeles County shows that BI Nutraceuticals reduced its annual water consumption and is on track to save nearly 2.5 million gallons of water year-over-year.

The water reduction was attributed to several factors including the addition of a more efficient steam sterilization unit, retrofitting existing steam units to make then greener, and adjustments to the BI’s irrigation schedule.

“Availability of water is always a concern and this year’s drought in Southern California only further motivated us to evaluate our water usage and look for ways to reduce our consumption," said George Pontiakos, president and CEO, BI Nutraceuticals. “We are proud to have taken this important step and are evaluating other ways we can improve our processes to make them more green."
