DSM Leads World Sustainability Ranking

HEERLEN, The NetherlandsSAM and Dow Jones Indexes  again ranked Royal DSM N.V. as the number one position in the chemical industry sector in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index. After the initial publication of the 2010 sustainability scores in September 2010, SAM identified an issue in the software used to evaluate the results of the Corporate Sustainability Assessments and announced a reassessment of the 2010 scores. This review has now been completed.

In 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2009 DSM was also named number one is worldwide sustainability in this sector, while in 2007 and 2008 the company ranked amongst the top leaders in the sector. In 2003, DSM was first included in the Dow Jones STOXX sustainability index for Europe.

The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index includes more than 300 companies from 34 countries that rank among the top 10 percent in their industries in terms of corporate sustainability. The Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes track the performance of the leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide through a thorough assessment of companies economic, environmental and social performance and accounts for more than 50 general as well as industry-specific criteria in each sector.
