SILVER SPRING, Md.Supply-side businesses now have an additional resource when choosing a general liability insurance program. The American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) recently endorsed the RT-Nutra Program, which is specifically designed for the natural products and dietary supplement industry.

The program, developed by R-T Specialty, offers coverage for commercial, products and operations liability to manufacturers, distributors, contract manufacturers and importers/exporters. AHPA helped R-T Specialty develop the program, which is underwritten by Lloyds.

Insurance underwriters previously included the dietary supplement industry within the broader "health science" industry. This program creates a more specialized option for manufacturers, as it has been proven to be a safe, low-risk class to insure.
