WORMERVEER, The NetherlandsIOI Loders Croklaan imported and marketed 348,000 tons of sustainable palm oil in Europe during 2013, which equals 34% of the total volume sold by the company last year4% over its initial goal.

For 2013, our goal was to increase the volume of certified sustainable palm oil to 30% of our European sales," said Ben Vreeburg, IOI Loders Croklaan sustainability director. "We are excited to see that we have reached and even exceeded our goal, since we are very committed in stimulating the buying of certified palm oil".

IOI Loders Croklaan sustainable palm oil is primarily produced by its parent company, IOI Group in Malaysia, one of the founding members of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). This year IOI Group has reached a full RSPO certification of her mills.

We expect a continuous increase of RSPO certified palm oil in 2014," Vreeburg said. "This is due to a growing belief that sustainable palm oil is the right thing to buy. New EU labeling legislation (2015) and a growing demand for traceable supply chains are other key factors".
