Naturex Focuses on Sustainability

AVIGNON, FranceNaturex debuted its comprehensive sustainability program in what it calls a "field-to-finish approach." The natural specialty ingredients company created a multi-disciplinary, dedicated sustainability committee, led by chairman Serge Sabrier. As part of its new efforts, Naturex plans to expand its scope on sustainability in the company's day-to-day business operations and expansion goals.

"Sustainable practices are not optional for our industry," Sabrier said. "Naturex is very well-positioned to drive improvements in ethical and responsible business practices across the entire value chain. It is both an opportunity and a responsibility for us to enhance our commitments in this field."

The company's sustainability efforts trace back to 2003, when it became one of the first members of the United Nations Global Compact. Since then, Naturex launched a social development foundation and implemented various certifications to promoted responsible sourcing. In 2012, Naturex was honored as a NuW Excellence Awards finalist for its sustainability efforts at the Health Ingredients Europe event.
