Thermo Fisher Scientific announced two products at the 62nd ASMS Conference on Mass Spectrometry and Allied Topics: the Thermo Scientific TSQ 8000 Evo triple quadrupole GC-MS and the Thermo Scientific Q Exactive HF system.
The TSQ 8000 Evo system improves on the features of its predecessor, the TSQ 8000, with new EvoCell technology, demonstrated in company-run experiments to triple selected reaction monitoring (SRM) transition rates without compromising sensitivity. Contributing to this productivity is the included Timed-SRM software for optimizing selected reaction monitoring schedules. Company-run experiments also showed that the EvoCell can enable triple the sensitivity at the same scan speed, allowing users to screen and quantitate more than 1,000 compounds in a single run at low limits of detection.
Thermo Fisher Scientific has automated method development and management with enhanced AutoSRM software, which simplifies SRM experiments. The instrument’s ExtractaBrite ion source is designed for high matrix tolerance to minimize sample preparation and cleaning. When the source does need maintenance, it can be removed without breaking vacuum to further enhance uptime.
The Thermo Scientific Q Exactive HF instrument is the newest product in the Q Exactive line of Thermo Scientific liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) systems. The new instrument adds an ultra-high-field Orbitrap mass analyzer to the proven Q Exactive Plus LC-MS platform. It is designed for faster identification, characterization, quantification, and confirmation in a single, high-confidence analysis. Maximum scanning rate increases from 12 Hz to 18 Hz significantly accelerate productivity. Company-conducted experiments have demonstrated the Q Exactive HF can provide complete MS/MS identification for 18 scans in one second, compared to half that number using the previous Q Exactive systems for the same duration gradient, without compromising data quality. Maximum resolution is 240,000 at m/z 200.
Advanced Quadrupole Technology optimizes precursor selection and transmission for excellent detection of low-abundance ions in very complex matrices. Advanced active ion beam guide design enhances sensitivity and robustness. Quantitation capabilities include: selected ion monitoring, parallel reaction monitoring and data-independent acquisition. An optional intact protein mode enhances analysis of intact proteins.
“Orbitrap technology is evolving to become faster, better performing and more accessible," said Iain Mylchreest, vice president, research and development, Thermo Fisher Scientific. “We’re pleased to make the performance of the newest Orbitrap analyzer available to Q Exactive HF customers."
