ST. LOUISStratum Nutrition advanced its sustainability efforts through business partnerships focused on the production of affordable, wholesome foods, according to a sustainability report by Novus International.

Novus, the parent company of Stratum Nutrition, released its fifth annual sustainability report to reinforce the importance of company partnerships.

We know that one company alone may not affect the large-scale change needed to secure our sustainable future," said Thad Simons, Novus president and CEO. "However, we strive to set a standard for sustainability. By working together to advance shared objectives, we can succeed in making a better life for ourselves and for future generations."

Jeremy Moore, Stratum Nutrition president, said the company partnerships empower product innovation "upstream and downstream."

Upstream, we work with our technology partners to further the science and commercialization of each specialty ingredient," He said. "Downstream, we further the natural products industry by working with finished product partners who want innovative, scientifically supported and consumer needed product solutions. Developing these partner relationships helps our global nutrition industry grow sustainably."

The 2012 Novus Sustainability report applies the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework. GRI is a non-profit, multi-stakeholder organization, which acts to increase the level of business transparency by promoting sustainability reporting among companies throughout the world. GRI framework contains detailed guidelines for reporting on sustainability impacts, and it provides a consistent structure that thousands of companies around the world use to disclose their approach to sustainability.

In 2011, Stratum Nutrition made the list of finalists for the Nutraceutical Business & Technology (NBT) award in environmental excellence. The company was recognized for its sustainable operation and ingredient sourcing.
