NORTHBROOK, Ill.Safety science company UL announced its acquisition of Innovadex, a Kansas-based information exchange platform for ingredients and raw materials. The deal expands UL's search offerings to include new product categories, including food and beverages.

Innovadex offers a specialized information platform that provides accurate access to suppliers' technical information. Product formulators, chemists and scientists can use the interface to search more than 800,000 documents from nearly 1,500 suppliers. This dynamic system currently connects 130,000 design- and supply-side users.

Innovadex advances ULs goal of helping engineers save valuable development time and make healthier and safer products by empowering them with faster, more substantive information, deeper levels of details and access to more alternatives," said Sara Greenstein, president of UL Environment.
