Ingestible Films as a Delivery System for Drugs and Nutrients

WEST HAVEN, Conn.--Watson Foods has dedicateditself to developing unique ingestible films as a delivery system for nutrientsand pharmaceuticals. Watson focuses on two types of systems. The SystemicDelivery Film delivers the active ingredient through the lining of the oralcavity. The Portal Delivery Film is dissolved in the oral cavity and ingestedthrough the stomach, which is the common delivery system by which tablet orliquid medications are administered. Both systems can be designed so the filmdelivers the active ingredient at a specific dissolution rate.
