PÄHL, GermanyThe Aenova Group has set a goal to provide Vitamin Angels with 10 million capsules of vitamin A to help reduce childhood deficiency. Aenova has pledged, together with its cooperation partners, to provide the organization with vitamin A capsules in 2011.

Our suppliers of packaging and labels have already confirmed their willingness to get involved," said Heiner Hoppmann, CEO of the Aenova Group. However were still looking for a further partner that can provide us with the vitamin A needed for this charity project."

In 2011, Aenova is looking to manufacture 10 million capsules for Vitamin Angels and thus make its contribution to Operation 20/20. The campaign is however not intended to be a one-off, but rather the plan is to develop it into a long-term partnership.

The vitamin A contained in a single capsule, taken every six months, can reduce infant and child mortality by 23 percent and can also prevent blindness, according to Aenova. In 2010, Vitamin Angels reached more than 20 million children in 43 countries.

According to estimates by the World Health Organization (WHO), up to 6,000 people die every day in developing countries, with children being the worst-affected. Studies have shown that vitamin A deficiency is one of the causes of blindness and child mortality. For this reason Howard Schiffer founded Vitamin Angels in Santa Barbara, CA, in 1994. With its Operation 20/20 program, Vitamin Angels is working toward reducing the infant and child mortality rate through the systematic distribution of vitamin A.

Aenova Holding GmbH was formed in 2008 from the merger of Dragenopharm Apotheker Püschl GmbH and SWISS CAPS AG. The Aenova Group provides a full-service portfolio to its clients that ranges from development, the purchasing of raw materials and production to analysis, packaging and logistics.
