Lonza Opens New Plant in China

NANSHA, China—Lonza Guangzhou Nansha Ltd. celebrated the official opening of its new niacinamide plant in Nansha, China.

At a launch ceremony honoring the occasion, invited dignitaries included district and other government officials, as well as the Swiss Consul General for Guangzhou. Approximately 300 people attended the event. In addition to the crystal-ball launching ceremony, the event activities included welcome addresses, a plant tour, refreshments and traditional lion dancing.

The new niacinamide plant has been running and stable since July 1, 2014, and it will satisfy the growing market demand in terms of both capacity and products.

Overall, the Nansha site of Lonza covers an area of 220,000 square meters. Products and services include niacinamide (vitamin B3) and the L-Carnitine series products for both human and animal foods and supplements; hygiene and preservative series products; active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs); chemical intermediates and custom development services.

“With our new facility, Lonza can meet growing market demands and fulfill long-term customer commitments," said Michael Lieu, president of Lonza Greater China. “At the same time, we can reinforce our global leadership role in food, feed, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and chemical markets."
