SaltWorks Improves Processing Methods For Himalayan Pink Salt
October 9, 2013
WOODINVILLE, Wash.SaltWorks improves distribution, inspection, sourcing and other processing methods of its Ancient Ocean Himalayan pink salt to ensure quality.
SaltWorks sources Himalayan pink salt from the Himalayan Mountain Range in Northern Pakistan from a family-owned, reputable supplier registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
To begin processing, large salt chunks are hand sorted for color and high mineral content. Raw salt is then transported from the mine to the factory in airtight, 1-ton super sacks. To ensure purity, the raw salt runs through a proprietary combination of sifters, aspirators, rare-earth magnets and metal detectors.
SaltWorks then inspects each grain using Optically Clean® technology, which uses high-definition color CCD cameras and a computer processor to detect micro defects in the salt crystals for removal, ensuring a kosher-certified, natural product.
Earlier this year, SaltWorks announced its entire line of smoked sea salts received kosher certification by the Orthodox Union.
