WOODINVILLE, Wash.SaltWorks announced its entire line of smoked sea salts received kosher certification by the Orthodox Union.

Kosher certification guarantees a level of process and quality control in the handling and production of food. The term kosher has been adapted within the food and restaurant industry to comprise a set of standards and practices that ensure only the highest quality products reach consumers.

The company developed a proprietary smoking process that's remained unchanged since the first batch was created ten years ago. SaltWorks does not use liquid smoke or additives, but only real wood smoke from bark-free logs and smokes the salt from anywhere from 24 hours to 7 days, producing one handcrafted batch of smoked sea salt at a time.

The company produced a range of smoked sea salt brands including Salish® Alderwood Smoked Salt, Bonfire® Extra Bold 7 Wood Blend, Yakima® Applewood Smoked Salt, Durango® Hickory Smoked Salt, Fumée® Oak Smoked, El Dorado® Mesquite Smoked Salt, Wildfire® Pecan Wood Smoked Salt and Herb Blend and Hellfire® Mesquite Smoked Salt and Habanero Blend. Then company expects to produce upwards of a million pounds of smoked salt in 2013, with steady growth thereafter. It also supplies gourmet salts to its rapidly expanding private label program. SaltWorks depends on the quality sourced for its raw salt, procuring salt from oceans and beaches with the purest, mineral-rich seawater. Production methods are designed so that the salt retains its unique flavors and aesthetic properties. Also, the company keeps prices balanced due to the large volume of salt it transports from source to production facility. SaltWorks sells over 30 million pounds of salt each year.
