VIRGO Donating $1 to Vitamin Angels per Download of Upwards!
October 26, 2012
PHOENIXVIRGO will donate $1 to Vitamin Angels for every download of its new digital magazine, Upwards!, located at upwardsmagazine.com.
"VIRGO and SupplySide are committed to raising awareness around the global issue of malnutrition, and our partnership with Vitamin Angels in creating the Upwards! Magazine is a strong step in that commitment," said John Siefert, VIRGO's CEO.
For the first 10,000 people who download the free magazine, VIRGOs SupplySide will donate $1 per download. In an effort to provide children around the world with the essential nutrients required to grow and thrive, VIRGOs SupplySide will create awareness and raise funds through Upwards! The new magazine is focused on the work of Vitamin Angels, a non-profit organization that delivers micronutrients, especially vitamin A, to at-risk populations in need.
"Not only will Upwards! inspire and inform you about our work, but by reading it you are directly helping us reach children in the United States and around the world," said Howard Schiffer, president of Vitamin Angels. "Since all of the publishing costs are covered by the magazine's sponsors, 100 percent of each dollar raised goes directly to Vitamin Angels."
Sponsored by DSM, Indena, KGK Synergize, Natrol and Pharmachem Laboratories, Upwards! is a new quarterly digital magazine focused on the mission, stories and supporters of Vitamin Angels, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing child mortality worldwide by advancing availability, access and use of essential micronutrients, especially vitamin A, among at-risk populations. Readers will learn about the people and communities they reach; global health and nutrition; how to get involved; and more. Featured stories in the premiere issue include:
Celestine and Emmanuel: One Kenyan mother discusses life beforeand afterreceiving prenatal vitamins.
Leveling the Kenyan Field: Vitamin Angels retraces its steps in Kenya, tackling undernourishment and revitalizing mothers, children and their communities.
Building a Global Village: After an expensive pharmacy visit, a new mom asks friends and family to donate to Vitamin Angels in lieu of gifts for her son's first birthday.
"We hope you join us by downloading and reading the magazine, so you too can be part of this very important mission," Siefert said. "I also encourage you to tell friends, family and colleagues about this fundraiser, as the more people who engage, the more good we can do for the cause."
