SANTA BARBARA, Calif.—Vitamin Angels launched a multi-vitamin distribution program in Honduras to provide nutritional supplements to 55,000 school-aged children each year for three years. Vitamin Angels worked directly with the Honduras Ministry of Health and local school officials in the city of Macuelizo to establish the program, which includes daily distribution of multi-vitamins, twice yearly administration of anti-parasitics and education about sanitation and hygiene. Program partners include SIGHT AND LIFE, United Natural Foods Inc., Anabolic Laboratories, Pan-American Health Organization, George Washington University, Cristo Salva, Mutual Fruits & Flavors, Domino Foods, PAHEF and MedPharm.

“We have been running a children’s multi and pre-natal vitamin distribution program in a nearby region for the past four years, and you can immediately tell by their appearance which children have been receiving these supplements,” said Howard Schiffer, founder and president of Vitamin Angels (www.vitaminangels.org). “We are thrilled to be able to reach 55,000 more children and give them the chance to lead healthier lives.”
