Vitamin Angels Launches Social Media Campaign on Malnutrition

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.On Oct. 1 Vitamin Angels launched a month-long social media campaign to educate the public about hidden hunger and child malnutrition. The campaign will operate across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and Tumblr, and centers around the Hidden Hunger Monsteran animated character who lurks in foods and causes malnutrition.
We wanted to create a Halloween campaign that is fun, yet educational. The Hidden Hunger Monster is a way for us to personify a major problem while staying true to our playful and uplifting voice," said Jill Agonias, Vitamin Angels social media specialist. Nearly 2 million children die unnecessarily from hidden hunger each year. Its a huge issue that people need to know about. The Hidden Hunger Monster helps achieve that."
The campaign, which runs Oct. 1 through Nov. 2, will demonstrate the importance of vitamin and mineral supplementation. Vitamin Angels goal is to increase awareness about the dangers of hidden hungera chronic lack of vitamins and minerals affecting approximately 1 in 3 people globallyits causes, and why addressing it is so crucial in the fight against malnutrition in children. While a global problem, hidden hunger is also prevalent in the United States.
