LAS VEGASThe non-profit Vitamin Angels spread its message and advanced its mission at multiple events during the recent SupplySide West trade show, held in mid-October. The 501c3 charitable organization, which brings essential nutrients to at-risk populations around the world, was the guest of honor at three show-related events, raising awareness and resources from among the 10,000 attendees, as well as from the numerous exhibitors and event sponsors. It took in $43,000 in donations during the show in addition the groups 100 Days of Giving campaign sponsors, who are doubling all donations (up to $250,000) through January 1, 2012which will help Vitamin Angels reach nearly 350,000 children next year.

The week kicked off with a private event benefitting Vitamin Angels on Tues. Oct. 11 at Dal Torro Ristorante in the Palazzo, an event put on by Horn. The next night,  volunteers from local Vitamin Shoppe and Whole Foods stores donned angel wings and circulated the crowd at SupplySide Wests opening reception hosted by DSM at the trendy Tao Nightclub; the angels raised awareness and encouraged attendees to earn their wings by making a donation. Later that night, Novel Ingredient hosted a drinks and dancing event at V-Bar, benefitting Vitamin Angels.

"Doing the opening event at SupplySide West with DSM and Virgo is such an honor for Vitamin Angels, said Howard B. Schiffer, president of Vitamin Angels. The Horn and Novel Ingredients private events were icing on the cake. SSW keeps growing every year and, concurrently, so does our support within the industry. Each year, we continue to build our base of support while reminding everyone that together we will reach 24 million children this year with essential nutrients."

Vitamin Angels also spent some time on the tradeshow floor educating attendees about their work and inviting exhibitors to consider partnering with the organization through a cause-marketing relationship or by donating product to further their mission of reaching children in need with essential nutrients. Vitamin Angels partner, ConnOils, set an example by raising $4,500 through a promotion running during the trade show.
