PHOENIX Virgo Publishing will recognize Vitamin Angels with its annual Humanitarian Award at the 9th annual Focus on the Future conference, Feb. 22-25 at the Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch Resort & Spa, Scottsdale, AZ.

The Humanitarian Award is given to an organization or individual that has made significant contributions to the betterment of the community through charitable or public service work. In 2010, Vitamin Angels reached over 24 million children in 43 countries with vital nutrients they need as a foundation for good health.

"Vitamin Angels is honored to accept this award, said Howard Schiffer, Founder and President of Vitamin Angels. We do so on behalf of all of our donors in this incredible industry who have supported this effort for the past 16 years and enabled us to give children around the world a chance to lead meaningful and productive lives.

Vitamin Angels mission is to mobilize and deploy private sector resources to advance availability, access and use of micronutrients, especially vitamin A to newborns, infants and children under 5. Essential nutrients enable young immune systems to fight infectious diseases, helping children attain good health and the opportunity to lead meaningful and productive lives.

Vitamin Angels has been very successful in saving lives and providing children with essential nutrients, said Peggy Jackson, Vice President of Virgo Publishing Health and Nutrition Division. They are making a real difference in the world and set a great example for all of us to follow.

The award will be presented to Vitamin Angels founder and president Howard Schiffer during the Awards Dinner, sponsored by Capsugel, on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Focus on the Future.

Focus on the Future is an exclusive summit for top executives in the dietary supplement and healthy food industries looking to explore new ideas, learn about emerging trends, and establish new connections.
