WASHINGTON—FDA issued an updated warning about weight loss pills—generally sold as dietary supplements—contaminated with undeclared pharmaceutical ingredients. The agency originally released its warning in December 2008; the list has since expanded to encompass 72 products and a wide swath of antidepressant, diuretic and anti-seizure drugs. FDA is continuing to seek product recalls and may take additional enforcement action including initiating seizures or lodging criminal complaints.
The full list of suspect products is available on the FDA Web site.
