ForsLean® Promotes Favorable Body Composition

PISCATAWAY, N.J. Taking anextract of Coleus forskohlii (CF)may optimize body composition by mitigating weight gain, according to a newstudy published in the Journal of the InternationalSociety of Sports Nutrition (2, 2:54-62, 2005)(www.sportsnutritionsociety.org).

Researchers from Baylor University in Waco, Texas, conducted arandomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study on 23 overweight women.Subjects were given twice-daily doses of 250 mg of CF standardized to 10-percentditerpene forskolin (as ForsLean®, from Sabinsa Corp.), or placebo, for 12weeks. There were no changes in fat mass, fat-free mass or body fat. CF tendedto mitigate gains in body mass. In addition, individuals administered ForsLeanreported less fatigue and hunger than those given placebo. Further, noclinically significant interactions were noted in metabolic markers, bloodlipids, muscle and liver enzymes, electrolytes, red cells, white cells, hormones(e.g., insulin), heart rate or blood pressure. The researchers concluded CF doesnot appear to promote weight loss but may help mitigate weight gain inoverweight females with apparently no clinically significant side effects.

These study results indicate that ForsLean helps preservelean body mass, improve body composition and mitigate weight gain in overweightfemales with no apparent side effects, said Vladimir Badmaev, M.D., Ph.D.,vice president of scientific and medical affairs with Sabinsa Corp. (www.sabinsa.com).
