WASHINGTON—Overeating may promote cell damage that can cause diabetes, heart disease and other illnesses, Reuters reported.
According to a new study published in Cell, “overeating appears to activate a usually dormant immune system pathway in the brain, sending out immune cells to attack and destroy invaders that are not there,” Reuters reported.
These finding may explain why obesity causes disease. In addition, it may help find ways to prevent obesity.
