ORLANDO, FLAnother study on the recently GRAS-approved sweetener, Rebaudioside A (Reb A), gives additional evidence that the high-intensity, natural sweetener is safe for consumption. Research by the Burdock Group, to be published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology investigated the genotoxicity in three in vitro and two in vivo (animal) assays: Researchers found Reb A was non-mutagenic and non-genotoxic and concluded that the studies provide additional evidence that Reb A is not genotoxic at the doses tested and further support the generally recognized as safe determination of Reb A.
