Sabinsa Releases HCA Safety Paper

PISCATAWAY, N.J.—Sabinsa Corp. issued a position paper affirming the safety of Garcinia cambogia and hydroxycitric acid (HCA) as found in its branded ingredients Citrin® and GarCitrin®. The paper, which is available for download, reviews and analyzes published safety documentation for HCA and garcinia extract, concluding garcinia extract and HCA are safe and efficacious. Sabinsa’s extracts in particular underwent an extensive safety review to establish GRAS (generally recognized as safe) status for Citrin®K, the potassium salt of HCA, in 2007.
