Vitamins, Spices Trending in New Products

CHICAGOA recent Datamonitor analysis of new product launches identifies a potentially new trend of companies using vitamin enrichment as a way to add extra nutrition to their product offerings. From vitamin-enhanced popping candies and spice blends with microencapsulated vitamin and mineral combinations, food companies are churning out new products to appeal to the health-conscious consumer.

Fiber-enriched products are gaining global interest, and food makers are taking notice. Nature's Energy LLC introduced chocolate-berry flavor FiGo Bites Sugar Free Energy Chews, which contain anthocyanins and reservatrol that the company claims provide long-lasting natural energy and combat premature aging. Fibraxx launced Fibraxx Fitfibras Fiber Snack Bars that containing three times as much fiber as a standard snack bar. Dulkre launched a liquid sweetener called Dulkre Sweetener with Fructofibra, which is touted as high in fiber and calorie free.

Banking on the warming or cooling taste sensation trend, Kracie Holdings introduced Attaka Warm and Cool Candy, a lemon flavor lollipop candy and two different types of powder dippersa soda-flavor cool effect dipper made with xylitol, and a grape-flavor 'warming effect dipper containing trehalose.

Designed to add texture and dimension to sauces and dressing, Le Foam Pure Indulgence Flavor Foam Sprays are available in Chocolate Truffle, Lemon Dijon, Parmesan, Wasabi and Sun Dried Tomato low-calorie varieties. The tasty temptations come in a 5-ounce pump-spray bottle.

Confectionery manufacturer Raven Manufacturing introduced Poprs Magic Pop'N Crystals range that includes the Color Change with Vitamins! variety, which claims to have a color-changing effect when added to yogurt. The company said that the vitamins when combined with the popping effect of the candy makes the product remains kid-friendly while appealing to parents looking for nutritional benefits of all-natural colors and flavors.

VitaminSpice recently launched Iron Chef America Seasonings with Vitamins, which feature seasoning blends and diet-enriching vitamin in its PizzaBlend, DinnerBlend, DessertBlend, Crushed Red Pepper, Granulated Garlic, Ground Cinnamon and Ground Black Pepper offerings.  The company uses a proprietary micro-encapsulation technology that takes vitamins, minerals and supplements and microencapsulates them, before adding them to the spice blends to create the final product.

Giving a nod to the World Cup, Aurora Muehlen to launch South African flavors in its line of Aurora Halbzeit Muffins Baking Mix in Germany. The "half-time" savory muffin mixes come in a range of unusual flavors, including Tasmanian Pepper and Chakalaka.
